We posted a couple of years ago about a lawsuit that was ongoing between consumers and Bertoli/Filippo Berio. The main points of the lawsuit were that the labels were misleading consumers into believing that the olive oil was made in Italy, and that the olive oil may degrade so fast that it is no longer extra virgin by the time it reaches consumers.
It looks like the members of the lawsuit will be able to receive a payout of 50 cents per bottle of oil they can provide proof of purchase for. Not a huge payout, but hey, it’s definitely something!
